I generally like it when my games takes care of small things like turning a flashlight on without me needing to manually do it. Mass Effect: Andromeda could have been the game where you finally got to make a character belonging to a different species, rather than carrying the banner of humankind yet again.
Instead we got the Ryders, possibly the blandest protagonists ever in both personality and looks. Modder Anobos decided to open up the possibilities, even if just aesthetically, and made this replacer that turns Scott Ryder into a Turian. Thanks to modder Invetro you can replace their spongy complexion for something more akin to stone, just like the Turians in the original Mass Effect trilogy. This mod by Forkinator rebalances all skills and abilities by increasing damage, force, and radius in most of them.
It also affects passives in an attempt to make the different builds feel diverse and rewarding. While her personality is one of her best assets, her outfit is also incredibly bad-ass and stylish, in a roguish kind of way. Modder Skaramosh now lets us wear the same outfit on your female Ryder, giving an otherwise bland character some extra oomph. A lot of their bonuses are completely unimportant. And as enemies become more bullet-spongey, a very few stats begin to matter.
Creator Kahmu attempts to solve this by reworking all profiles to further differentiate them and to simply make them better. They disregard stuff like Power Restoration and Defense in favor of weapon proficiency, lower power cooldowns, and the like. This creates a much more aggressive but fulfilling experience.
Some of my favorite mods are those that users originally make for their private play, but end up publishing due to popular demand.
And ended up making one of the most downloaded mods for MEA. As the name implies, it simply switches up the colors on many squadmate and NPC outfits to look a lot cooler, and less like hospital staff. Modder Kahmu found this too strange for comfort and made this mod that does away with that extra animation. Mass Effect: Andromeda is built upon the same groundwork and engine as Dragon Age: Inquisition, and it becomes especially noticeable in the way characters move.
Download it here. Each item modified has its own page and listing all of them out here would make this article absurdly long. Their profile is here. These modified complexions generally lend themselves to a lighter look to the affected characters. It can be refreshing to see the characters appear that way though it is ultimately more of a stylistic choice more than it is a simple upgrade.
All of the mods above improve the Mass Effect experience in their own, specific ways but some modders have gone far beyond that, creating mods that make sweeping changes over certain levels and even the entire game. Expanded Galaxy Mod by Kinkojiro, rusm0, Mellin and lmorri The Expanded Galaxy Mod is a must-have for any modded playthrough. While the Nexus page goes into detail about what the mod adds to the game, the actual list of additions is so substantial there is a TVTropes page dedicated to this mod.
Some of the changes are even affected by choices made all the way back in the first game! The Normandy herself will be affected by the story with characters coming on board and staying when appropriate, adding some life to the ship. For example, Jack and her students would come on board after completing Grissom Academy. Many of the mods below are actually add-ons for EGM though they would be incredible in their own right. The Ark Mod acts as a bridge between Mass Effect 3 and Mass Effect: Andromeda and brings with it two brand-new missions, five revamped missions with new enemies and even new armour and weapon mods for Shepard.
Though the mod doesn't affect other elevators such as the ones on Noveria or Therum, that's a small price to pay for not having to deal with all that awkwardness. Thank goodness for abbreviations! The mod author tackled everything from shadow maps to character textures, plus armors, clothing and more. An Anniversary Edition of the mod was released in allowing customizable variant texture selection during the install process, some optimizations for Reshade users, and lighting touch-ups.
This mod focuses primarily on bug fixes and addressing other issues that popped up in the vanilla release. It tackles cutscene bugs, quest issues and mission fixes to create a more seamless and proper representation of the final game. This is a simple Reshade preset which can pump up the graphical fidelity of the game with realistic lighting, shading and color.
NerdVisual's bloom and contrast effects really bring out the detail of the game, and deliver a better sci-fi experience. Make sure to do a little homework when installing Reshade in order to save yourself a hassle during the install process.
YouTube is a great resource for install and setup tutorials. Mouse acceleration sucks, and always will. It reduces the in-game accuracy of mouse controls, making it harder to move and aim. There's a reason why raw mouse input is far more popular among PC gamers.
Mass Effect Mouse Fix brings that raw input to the game by eliminating mouse acceleration altogether. It achieves this by grabbing raw mouse input functionality and injecting it straight into the game via a simple DLL file.
Stop torturing yourself, and add this mod to your list! The pre-rendered cutscenes of Mass Effect are starting to show their age. Compression artifacts have made them an eyesore, which is why the author of ALOV chose to do something about it.
This mod upscales the game's cutscenes from p to a whopping p, with a difference in bitrate of 5. With all the shops and merchants you have to visit in RPGs, it's always a nice addition when a modder comes in and simplifies all this micromanaging and traveling for the player.
For this, we have to bless our conquering hero user tabbed. In this mod, all crafting materials are now available on your main spaceship the Tempest. This cuts a bunch of time that you would otherwise have to spend going to different planets to get the materials you want to make that special suit of armor you had your eyes on.
Not only that, but the materials are all in quantities of Good luck clearing through all that in one playthrough.
Show of hands, who likes having to manage their inventory in any game they ever played? While we can't see you, we're going to assume not a single person raised a hand. If only there was a way to have unlimited inventory space and not have to worry about any of that again Oh wait, thanks to user Coockoo , we actually don't have to with this game on PC.
With this mod, the item inventory limit is spiked up to 99 With this mod, you effectively become Hermione Granger in the final Harry Potter movie with that magical bag that holds everything you ever needed. Somebody make it so. Sometimes it's the little things that make gameplay that much more enjoyable. Who would have guessed that a simple button press that makes you jolt in any direction could have added so much to the firefights in Mass Effect?
Thankfully the developers did and in Andromeda , you can press the evade button which moves your character via jetpack or biotic abilities in a quick burst. But what if you wanted to do it There's a mod from user watafuzz that allows you to do just that. This mod takes away the cooldown time from performing an evade which lets you do to your heart's content.
If an enemy manages to finish you off now, then you just gotta admit that you're not good at the game my friend. Elsewhere in this article, we talk of a mod that brings your squadmates ' power levels more up to scale with your own characters. On the other side of the spectrum if you wanted a mod that just makes you totally outclass your squad in terms of mobility even further, here we go.
